2 Amys
3715 Macomb St NW Washington, DC 20016
Mondays 5pm-10, Tuesday through Saturday 11am-10pm, Sunday 12pm-10pm
2Amys is almost always packed, especially on weekend nights, and it doesn't take reservations. Be prepared to wait, but it will be worth it. The pizza is Neapolitan style and has one of the best crusts. For an appetizer, get the deviled eggs, and for pizza, the Etna and the Vongole are both amazing.
Comet Ping Pong
5037 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC 20008
Monday through Thursday 5pm-9:30pm, Friday through Saturday 11:30am-10:45pm, Sunday 11:30am-9:30pm
This is arguably the most lively and fun pizza restaurant in DC, often having live entertainment plus a game room with many ping pong tables in the back. Not only is there a great atmosphere but also delicious food. They don't take reservations, so especially on weekend nights except for a wait. The Stanley and the Smoky are yummy pizzas, and the hot wings are good if you want an appetizer. My favorite is the Hottie.
All Purpose Pizzeria
250 9th St NW, Washington, DC 20001
Monday through Thursday 11:30am-2:30pm and 5:30pm-10pm, Friday 11:30am-2:30pm and 5:30pm-11pm, Saturday 11:30am-2pm and 5pm-11pm, Sunday 5pm-10pm
Easily one of the best pizzerias in DC, All Purpose is a local favorite that just opened a second location at the Capitol Riverfront. Be warned that you will have to wait, and the restaurant is very loud. This amazing pizza makes up for it. The Buona and the Sedgewick are stand out pizzas.
Alatri Bros.
4926 Cordell Ave, Bethesda, MD 20814
Tuesday through Thursday 4:30pm-9:30pm, Friday & Saturday 11:30am-10:30pm, Sunday 11:30am-9pm
This restaurant is new to Bethesda, and it is already popular. It has a large outdoor patio, perfect for nice-weather days. It is the same space formerly known as Mia’s Pizza, and in my opinion, the pizza is an upgrade. The Whipped Feta & White Pizza appetizer is special. For pizza, I recommend the Margarita and the Prosciutto.
Pete’s New Haven Style Apizza
Multiple Locations in DC and MD
Hours depend on the location
Pete’s is the kind of place that you could easily go every night. You order at the counter and they bring out the food. They have many salads, whole pizzas, and pizza by the slice. It is perfect for the indecisive person, who can order two different slices of two different flavors. Consider the New Haven and the Staven pizzas and don't miss the homemade gelatos and sorbets.
Stella Barra
11825 Grand Park Ave, North Bethesda, MD 20852
Monday through Thursday 4pm-10pm, Friday 4pm-12am, Saturday 10am-12am, Sunday 10am-9pm
Located at Pike and Rose next to Summer House, Stella Barra has a trendy vibe. The popular opinion is that the white pizzas are better than the red pizzas. The Shaved Mushroom white pizza is enjoyable. They also have “thin sin” pizzas which have an extra thin and crispy crust. From that category, I would recommend the Cacio E Pepe.
Pizzeria Da Marco
8008 Woodmont Ave, Bethesda, MD 20814
Monday through Thursday 11:30am-2:30pm and 4pm-9:30 pm, Friday 11:30am-2:30pm and 4pm-10pm, Saturday 11:30am-10pm, Sunday 11:30am-9:30pm
Another Neapolitan pizza restaurant, Pizzeria Da Marco is located in the middle of Bethesda. Its lunch special is a particularly good deal. Though the pizza options are extensive, the Funghi and the Siciliana will satisfy your pizza craving.
Frankly...Pizza!
10417 Armory Ave, Kensington, MD 20895
Wednesday through Friday 12pm-2:30pm and 4:30pm-9pm, Saturday through Sunday 12pm-9pm
Frankly...Pizza is a small, neighborhood favorite in Kensington. It can get pretty busy during peak hours, and they don't take reservations. However, if you are willing to wait, the pizza is delicious. Many people prefer the white pies to the red, especially the Hot Mess and the Arugula.
Pizza CS
1596 Rockville Pike B, Rockville, MD 20852
Tuesday through Thursday 11:30am-3pm and 5pm-9pm, Friday 11:30am-3pm and 5pm-9:30pm, Saturday 12pm-9:30pm, Sunday 12pm-8pm
Pizza CS is the more upscale version of CS New York Pizza, both on Rockville Pike. It is still casual, but Pizza CS it sit-down. Two of the best pizzas are the CS Sausage and Quattro. Don't miss out on the free foosball.
